BEACHES, REEFS & CRATER LAKE
Lombok island and the surrounding small islands are the main destination for travellers. Senggigi area as the main tourism center, and functions as the base to explore other parts of Nusa Tenggara.
The surrounding waters is peppered with small islets (gili), with a cluster of three on the northwest point is known as the Three Gilis. Other, relatively unspoilt and undeveloped islets includes snorkeling heaven of gili nanggu on the southwest, and gili lampu on the northeast.
On the south part of the island, other than the world renown crafts such as handwoven cloth and pottery, the pristine and quiet beach stretches for miles, perfect for a quick getaway, with white granular sands and crystal clear turqouise water, as well as respectable sized tubes caters to surfing afficionados.
Inland, Mt. Rinjani looms on the northern half of the island, with a challenging 3 night trek for a rewarding sunrise at the peak, and soothing hotspring on the crater lake shore.
